NFL quarterback Michael Vick won't be hanging out with Oprah Winfrey after all.

Vick was supposed to appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" for an interview that would have aired Feb. 24. But a show spokesman told the Associated Press that a representative for Vick canceled Tuesday, citing personal reasons.

"After careful consideration, I will need to postpone the taping of the Oprah Winfrey interview," Vick said in a statement. "I admire and respect Oprah and hope to be able to participate in an interview in the future."

But if he wants to have a seat on Winfrey's couch, he'll need to schedule it soon. Winfrey has announced this will be the last season of her longtime talk show.

Vick, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, missed two pro football seasons while serving 18 months in federal prison for running a dog fighting operation in Virginia. He was re-instated to the league in 2009.

The Atlanta Falcons selected Vick, the No. 1 draft pick, in the 2001 draft. Vick led the team to the playoffs twice before his arrest in 2007.

Vick returned to the league as backup quarterback with the Eagles for the 2009 season. But in the most recent season, Vick was back in his old form, earning Comeback Player of the Year honors from the Associated Press.
