Top college football coaching jobs

A look at the top 10 college football coaching jobs in the country, according to Sports Illustrated.

Auburn, last year's BCS champion, ranks ninth - the fifth SEC team in the top 10.

Penn State, under legendary coach Joe Paterno, ranks eighth.

The fifth-best job in the country? Mark Richt guides that program in Athens. UGA consistently gets the top players in state, fills Sanford Stadium every home game and have won 96 games in Richt's 10 seasons in Athens.

Jeff Schultz has found an article which tackles an interesting subject - the best college football jobs in the country. Texas and Ohio State are ranked first and second on the list with the No. 2 Buckeyes reeling from the recent resignation of Jim Tressel (left).

The team Auburn defeated in the BCS title game, Oregon, ranks 10th.

... and Alabama at No. 7. Both programs have recently won BCS titles and figure to be among the national title contenders this fall.

The next two spots on the list are held by schools in the SEC West -- LSU at No. 6 ...

Oklahoma is ranked third on the list, and Bob Stoops could lead the tradition-rich program to another BCS title this fall.

First-year coach Will Muschamp now holds the fourth-best job (according to the rankings) at the University of Florida. The Gators won two BCS titles under Urban Meyer and were dominant in the SEC under Steve Spurrier.
