More than 20,000 tickets have been sold and distributed for the Campeones Cup between Atlanta United and Club America, an MLS spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The game will be Aug. 14 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Campeones Cup, in its second year, matches the MLS champions vs. the champion of LIGA MX. Tigres defeated Toronto last year in the inaugural Campeones Cup.

Atlanta United qualified by defeating Portland in the 2018 MLS Cup.

Club America qualified by defeating Tigres slightly more than a week ago. Club America was the 2018 Apertura champ of LIGA MX. Tigres was the 2019 Clausara champ.

This will be Club America’s third time playing in Atlanta. It played A.C. Milan in 2009 and Manchester City in 2010. Both games were at the Georgia Dome.

Atlanta United was beaten by Mexico’s Monterrey in the quarterfinals of CONCACAF Champions League earlier this season.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be set up for its smaller, soccer configuration for the Campeones Cup.
