Falcons rookie defensive end Takkarist McKinley saw serious time in Sunday’s 34-23 win over the Packers and while perhaps feeling good about his expanded role, he ended his social media sabbatical on Monday night just two weeks after his self-imposed ban.

The first-round draft choice fired up his Twitter account @Takk:

McKinley went radio and social media silent on Sept. 4, the Monday before the Falcons’ season-opening game in Chicago.

The former UCLA Bruin told reporters that hisTwitter and Instagram accounts, "had to go . . . Sometimes social media and video games can become a distraction . . . it just became a distraction for me."

McKinley’s Twitter feed has often been colorful, and sort of blew up a few months ago with this one of him dancing after signing his signing a four-year, $7.79 million contract with a $5.57 signing bonus.

After playing 49 snaps against Green Bay, with a notable pressure and hit on quarterback Aaron Rodgers, McKinley figures to continue seeing extended playing time while Beasley’s partial hamstring tear sidelines him for no less than one game and possible several.

Fans reacted quickly after he did on Monday night.
