Here’s a few things to know over the weekend:
1. Braves lose to Pirates
The Atlanta Braves fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday afternoon 9-4 in the final game of the four-game series with the Pirates. Braves pitcher Bartolo Colon had another tough day on the mound. The Braves are on the road again starting a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 10:15 p.m.
2. Atlanta United to play NYC FC
A week after a 4-1 win over the Houston Dynamo, Atlanta United will play New York City FC on Sunday at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Atlanta United manager Gerardo Martino will not coach Sunday's match because he was ejected after kicking a ball on the field in the second half against Houston. Sunday's match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
3. Arthur Blank discussed NFL rule changes
Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank discussed the NFL rule changes involving touchdown celebrations and overtime on Sirius XM NFL Radio. Blank explained why the League reduced overtime from 15 minutes to 10 minutes and why he's excited to watch players creative celebrations in the fall.
4. ESPN, ACC announced national broadcast times and stations
The ACC and ESPN announced the times of nationally broadcasted ACC football games for the first three weekends of the college football season on Thursday. The start time of the Chick-fil-A Kickoff games of Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech on Sept. 4 and Florida State vs. Alabama on Sept. 2 were announced among four others.
5. Arthur Blank discussed Mercedes-Benz security after Manchester attack
Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United owner Arthur Blank appeared on Fox Business on Wednesday to discuss the security measures Mercedes-Benz Stadium is taking to prevent another Manchester-type attack.
