The NFL will no longer require players to wear Color Rush uniforms during “Thursday Night Football” games, according to executive vice president of programming, research and content strategy for Fox Sports Bill Wanger.

“Bill Wanger of FOX Sports says alternate uniforms on Thursday Night Football are going away,” Barrett Sports Media’s Jason Barrett tweeted Wednesday. “Hardcore fans don’t need gimmicks to watch. The game schedule will also be stronger. “

Fox Sports owns the rights to broadcast "Thursday Night Football" through the 2022 season for $3.3 billion in January, according to Sporting News.

The Atlanta Falcons played two Thursday Night games featuring the alternative uniforms.
