Braves star Freddie Freeman made his first big-league start at third base on Tuesday.

Freddie Freeman’s debut at third base on July Fourth drew fireworks and the largest crowd to the Atlanta Braves’ new home, SunTrust Park.

The number of reported tickets sold to Tuesday’s game totaled 41,456 fans, outpacing the stadium’s two opening dates in April of 41,149 fans.

Freeman missed 44 games with a broken wrist.

Until Tuesday, Freeman had played first base for all 8,134-1/3 of his defensive innings in the major leagues. He transitioned from first to third base during a short rehab assignment at Gwinnett and surprisingly was activated from the disabled weeks ahead of schedule.

Freeman faced 49 batters in his debut at third. He had 1 putout and 2 assists.

The Braves are drawing an average 30,578 fans in their first year at SunTrust Park.

In Turner Field's final year, the Braves averaged 25,079 ticket holders per game. That was up from an average of 25,017 in 2015.

Per MLB policy, since 1993, announced attendance represents tickets sold, not the number of people in the stadium.
