Atlanta United is in discussions with many domestic and global brands about becoming the team’s jersey sponsor, according to team spokeswoman Elena Cizmaric

The MLS expansion franchise is in the midst of designing its jerseys, commonly called kits in soccer, and will reveal the uniforms and sponsor later this year, Cizmaric said. The team will begin play in 2017.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium announced a founding partnership with Coca-Cola on Tuesday.

"We are proud to partner with Coca-Cola to deliver a superior match-day experience for soccer fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium," Atlanta United president Darren Eales said in a statement from Arthur M. Blank Sports and Entertainment. "Coca-Cola has a tremendous heritage in the Atlanta market and has supported the game of soccer on a global scale for decades. We look forward to building on the strong partnership between Coca-Cola and Major League Soccer, and to working together to further elevate the world's game."
