Leandro Gonzalez Pirez scored Atlanta United’s first goal in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Pirez knocked in a headed pass from Hector Villalba in the 14th minute to give the Five Stripes a 1-0 lead over Dallas on Sunday in their first game in the $1.5 billion stadium.

Miguel Almiron whipped in a cross off a corner kick that went off Villalba’s head and across the penalty box, where Pirez was there to knock it in. It was Pirez’s first goal and Villalba’s fifth assist and Almiron’s 10th assist this season.
