Neither captain Michael Parkhurst nor influential midifielder Darlington Nagbe will travel with Atlanta United for Wednesday’s game at Vancouver, according to manager Frank de Boer.

De Boer said on Monday that both players need rest because the team is in the midst of playing eight games in 28 days. Wednesday’s game at Vancouver will be the fourth in 11 days. Atlanta United will play at New York Red Bulls on Sunday.

Parkhurst started at left fullback and played 90 minutes in Sunday's 1-0 win against Orlando at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Parkhurst, 35, has seven starts as part of nine appearances this season. Brek Shea seems likely to start at left back.

Nagbe, 28, has nine starts as part of 10 appearances. He has been repeatedly praised by de Boer for his ability to turn defense into offense with his skill in tight spaces.

It is uncertain who will fill in for Nagbe.

Atlanta United (5-3-2) has won four consecutive games, each by shut out.

Kevin Kratz (calf) returned to training with Atlanta United on Monday. He has one appearance this season.
