University of Georgia running back Nick Chubb won the Collegiate Athlete of the Year award at the Atlanta Sports Awards ceremony Thursday night.

The other two nominees, swimmer Olivia Smoliga and track and field athlete Keturah Orji, also represented UGA.

Former UGA running back Herschel Walker presented the award.

Chubb will enter his senior season as the second all-time leading rusher for the Bulldogs behind Walker.

“I want to thank my teammates and coaches for helping me on and off the field,” Chubb said in his speech. “And thanks again for all the recognition on a wonderful night in Atlanta.”
