NASCAR: Wreck-filled race at Talladega

A massive 13-car accident just seven laps into Sunday's race at Talladega Superspeedway took out race favorites and left it open for an unlikely winner to emerge from the field.

A.J. Allmendinger (44) tries to speed away amid the wreckage. (He was not unscathed.) The accident started just seven laps into the race near the front of the field when Matt Kenseth appeared to make contact with series points leader Jeff Gordon.

Carl Edwards (99) goes airborne after spinning out and crashing into Ryan Newman's Chevrolet. Newman, with a busted front end, finished the race in third behind winner Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
