A ticket to the MLS Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Dec. 8 is trending to be the most expensive in league history since 2010, according to research by seatgeek.com. Atlanta United will host Portland in the game.

As of Friday, the average ticket resale price is $293. Last year’s championship game in Toronto had an average resale price of $335, but the capacity of BMO Field (30,000) is much smaller than the capacity of Mercedes-Benz Stadium (at least 70,000), which would drive up prices.

Additionally, the game may have ticket resale prices among the highest in the short history of events at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Events with higher prices were:

College Football Playoff Championship game: Georgia vs. Alabama, Jan. 9 2018 - $2,673

2017 SEC Championship game: Georgia vs. Auburn, Dec. 2, 2017,  - $819

2018 SEC Championship game: Alabama vs. Georgia, Dec. 1, 2018 - $708

Chick-fil-A Kickoff game: Alabama vs. Florida State, Sept. 2, 2017- $650

NFL: Cowboys at Falcons, Nov. 12, 2017 - $409

More than 80 percent of resales involve consumers in Georgia, according to seatgeek.com. Atlanta United led MLS in average attendance for the second consecutive season with a league record 53,002. It has also set single-game attendance records for the playoffs and U.S. Open Cup.
