After signing a financial agreement, McEachern High School alumna Te’a Cooper will officially transfer from Tennessee to South Carolina, Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley announced on Tuesday.

Cooper will have two years of eligibility remaining after she sits out the 2017-2018 season according to NCAA rules.

Cooper also sat out the 2016-2017 season after suffering a knee injury in the summer of 2016.

“Adding a talent such as Te’a Cooper to our Gamecock family complements the players that we have,” Staley said according to a statement released by South Carolina. “Her experience playing against top level competition will be a tremendous addition in sustaining our success.”

The No. 1 point guard in the 2014 recruiting class, Cooper was named a McDonalds All-American during her time at McEachern.

During her freshman season at Tennessee, Cooper earned an SEC All-Freshman Team selection. Cooper averaged 8.6 points, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game as a freshman.

Cooper is the sixth addition to the National Champion Gamecock roster for the 2017-2018 season along with Penn State graduate transfer Lindsey Spann and freshmen Bianca Jackson, Elisia Grissett, Haley Troup and LaDazhia Williams.
