Although he gave up five runs against the Charlotte Knights on Monday night, Gwinnett Braves pitcher showed he’s still got it, striking out nine batters.

Back on the mound for his third start at Coolray Field, Medlen pitched 5.1 innings and gave up nine hits in the Gwinnett Braves’ 10-5 loss to the Knights.

Melden threw five scoreless innings, but the Knights racked up five runs in the top of the sixth.

Medlen, who was assigned to Gwinnett on June 9, is working to resurrect his career in the Braves' system after two separate "Tommy John" surgeries in 2010 and 2014. The 31-year-old pitcher was assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett from the Double-A Mississippi Braves.

Medlen played with the Atlanta Braves organization in 2009-2013 and is back for the 2017 season.
