Kirby Smart nominated for ‘Coach of the Year’ at 2018 Atlanta Sports Awards

Georiga football coach Kriby Smart is among the finalists for “Coach of the Year” at the 2018 Atlanta Sports Awards, the Atlanta Sports Council announced Tuesday.

Nominated alongside Atlanta United’s Gerardo Martino and Georgia Swarm’s Ed Comeau, Smart led the Bulldogs to an SEC Championship victory and an appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game last season in his second year with the Bulldogs.

Georiga football is also nominated for “Team of the Year” and “Moment of the Year” for their national championship game appearance.

Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm and former linebacker Roquan Smith were also nominated for “Collegiate Athlete of the Year” alongside Jazmine Bowser of Clark Atlanta University Women’s Track and Field.

Former Atlanta Braves general manager John Schuerholtz and Atlanta Falcons offensive guard Ben Garland will also be honored at the 2018 Atlanta Sports Awards. Last year, Schuerhotz was awarded the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award and Garland received the Community Spirit Award.

Professional Athlete of the Year Presented by SunTrust Sports & Entertainment

Team of the Year Presented by PrimeSport

Moment of the Year Presented by Mercedes-Benz USA
