  • The schedule makers weren't kind to the Thrashers, who play the Lightning the night following their season opener. It's the first of nine home-away back-to-back games this season.
  • Thrashers coach Craig Ramsay will return to Tampa, where he served as an associate coach from 2001-07. He won a Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2004.
  • After a 6-3 win in the first meeting between the two teams last season, the Lightning won the final five games of the season series, four by one goal.
  • Defenseman Pavel Kubina, who played for the Thrashers last season, signed with Tampa as a free agent.
