Ogletree Twins: About the AJC Photos
AJC Photographer Jason Getz discusses the 2009-10 photo project during which he followed Newnan High football stars and UGA recruits Alec and Alexander "Zander" Ogletree through the season to Signing Day.
!["This was an amazing game. As Grayson was setting up for the field goal at the end, I thought the only way Newnan would win (to secure the victory) is if Alec Ogletree (right) would block the kick. Alec had blocked field goal attempts before but I don't think [it was] anything like this. Heroically, Alec blocked the kick and after he blocked it and time expired his twin Alexander (left) was the first to greet him. I was particularly struck by the emotion of Alexander (pictured with mom Allyson) and Alec following this loss. Up until this moment I had seen only happy moments and when it was over they were both devastated. To be honest, I almost teared up [seeing] their reactions. Both will be able to play college football together next season [at Georgia]. With Alexander (right) getting his offer the day after their last high school football game, it seemed like it was meant to be. "Even at a young age you could tell which Ogletree was which," AJC photographer Jason Getz, who followed the Newnan High football standouts over the 2009 season through 2010 Signing Day, says.
