Newnan's Ogletree Brothers work with kids

The twins help out holding the chains for four games each Saturday morning as a way to earn a little extra money.

Zander Ogletree directs a few youth football players to get back into their box after a touchdown. Of being on this field again, he says, "It brings back memories."

"This was an eye-opener to me, because it showed me how important the Ogletrees are to their community. Lanier Wright (right) chose the number 39 in honor of Alec, his favorite Newnan football player. Even before he became a college player, Alec was a celebrity among kids in Coweta County. He impressed me in how he handled Lanier, talking to him as long as he wanted."

Eight-year-old Lanier Wright wears the number 39 proudly as he competes on his team, the Lions. Because he's followed Newnan and Alec Ogletree for four years Lanier's mother, Kelly, told the Director of the Hunter Complex, Kevin Carlisle, "You know which number Lanier will want."

Alec Ogletree stands out among the kids on the bench but he and brother Zander were once among them. The twins played on these youth football fields before they became known statewide as high school standouts.

Alec Ogletree spends some time mentoring young Lanier Wright, 10 years his junior, in the finer points of football. Lanier's mother Kelly says, "Lanier adores Alec."

Kevin Carlisle (right), the Director of the Hunter Complex for the Coweta County Parks and Recreation Department, has known the Ogletree twins since they were nine-years-old when they played on these youth football fields. Although football success has made the twins well-known in the Newnan community, Kevin says "I still see them as two 9-year-olds goofing around everywhere."
