Dalton finished its perfect season with a 5-0 thrashing of Southeast Whitfield on Friday in the Class AAAA boys state championship game at University Field in Carrollton.

It was the fourth time this season that the Catamounts (22-0) defeated their Whitfield County neighbor.

Salvador Rodriguez scored Dalton’s initial goal two minutes into the match. Eder Mora scored next, and and Daniel Palacios scored twice for a 4-0 halftime lead. Ramiro Huitanda closed out the scoring in the second half with his 48th goal of the season, a school record.

The Catamounts won their second soccer state championship.
