ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

Clint Frazier, Loganville: The senior outfielder batted .485 with 17 home runs and 45 RBIs for a team that was 26-6 and reached the Class AAAAA quarterfinals. He hit 63 home runs in his career and played on one state championship team (2012). Frazier was selected fifth Thursday (by the Cleveland Indians) in the MLB draft. He has signed to play baseball at Georgia.

Basketball (boys)

Brannen Greene, Tift County: The 6-foot-7 senior forward averaged 27 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists for a team that won Region 1-AAAAAA and made the state quarterfinals. Greene, known for his shooting touch, is the No. 1-rated senior basketball prospect in Georgia. He has signed to play basketball at Kansas.

Basketball (girls)

Diamond DeShields, Norcross: The 6-2 senior guard averaged 23.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 3.1 assists and played on her third state championship team in four seasons. DeShields won the Naismith Award, claimed two other national player-of-the-year honors and was a McDonald's All-American. She has signed to play basketball at North Carolina.

Cheerleading

Haley Hartle, Lambert: The junior was a key backspot for a squad that won three of its five regular-season competitions and captured the first cheerleading state championship in school history. Hartle, described by coach Brent Paige as a team leader because of her work ethic, is a member of the Stingray Orange competition team that won at the World Championships this season.

Cross country (boys)

Josh Brickell, Peachtree Ridge: The senior had a time of 15:55.32 at the state meet to capture the individual title in the highest classification for the third consecutive season. Peachtree Ridge finished fifth in the team standings. Brickell also finished second in the 3,200-meter run and fourth in the 1,600 at the state track meet this spring. He plans to run cross country and track at Furman.

Cross country (girls)

Allie Buchalski, Johns Creek: The senior had a time of 18:46.23 at the Class AAAAAA meet to win her third individual title in four seasons. Buchalski was the Class AAA champion in 2009 and won the AAAA title in 2011. She also won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races at the state track meet this spring. Buchalski will attend Furman, where she will run cross country and track.

Football

Alvin Kamara, Norcross: Kamara rushed for 2,264 yards and scored 31 touchdowns in leading Norcross to its first state championship. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back averaged 172.6 yards rushing and 208 yards from scrimmage in Norcross' five Class AAAAAA playoff victories. Kamara has signed to play at Alabama.

Golf (boys)

James Clark, Brookstone: The junior led the Cougars to a fourth consecutive state championship. Clark, who has verbally committed to Georgia Tech, was medalist at the Class A-Private meet with a 69 at the Savannah Quarters Country Club. Clark shot a 68 to win medalist honors at the region tournament. He also won the AJGA Junior All-Star event in April.

Golf (girls)

Eunice Yi, Lakeside-Evans: The senior shot a 70 and was medalist at the Class AAAA tournament at Jekyll Island and helped the Panthers to their second consecutive state championship. She was also medalist at the Region 2 tournament. Yi has signed with Augusta State and plans to play a national schedule of amateur events this summer.

Gymnastics

Beth Roberts, Tift County: The senior scored a 38.150 to win the all-around title at the state meet for the second consecutive season. Roberts, the daughter of Tift coach Jodi Roberts, won individual titles on the vault and floor, took second on the uneven bars and was fifth on the balance beam in leading her team to a runner-up finish. She will compete next season at Georgia.

Lacrosse (boys)

Nate Solomon, Centennial: The sophomore attacker finished with 189 points for the Knights, who won their first state championship in the sport with a 15-12 victory against Lambert in the Class AAAAAA final. Solomon, who had two goals and six assists in the title game, was named an All-American and first-team all-state player by the High School Coaches' Council of U.S. Lacrosse.

Lacrosse (girls)

Annie Ruland, Milton: The senior scored 65 goals with a shooting percentage of .540 and had 36 assists for Milton's fourth consecutive state championship team. Ruland, a midfielder and attacker, was the only Georgia player selected for the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic in July in Maryland. Ruland has signed to play lacrosse at USC.

Riflery

Rebecca Godwin, North Forsyth: The senior had an overall score of 393.1 to win the individual all-classification championship at the state meet. It was the first individual title for North Forsyth and helped the Raiders to a school-best second-place finish in the team standings. Godwin, who posted the best score at the state meet in three years, plans to continue shooting next year at Columbus State.

Soccer (boys)

Salomon Lorenzano, McIntosh: The senior scored 24 goals and had 28 assists in leading the Chiefs to a 23-0 record and the Class AAAAA championship. His goal eight minutes into the championship game was all McIntosh needed in a 2-0 victory against Houston County. Lorenzano has signed to play soccer at Georgia State.

Soccer (girls)

Rachel Garcia, Greater Atlanta Christian: The senior forward set the school single-season record with 53 goals and added 19 assists for the Class AA runner-up Spartans. She finished her career with 146 goals and 45 assists for a team that made three consecutive appearances in the state championship game, winning the title in 2012. Garcia has signed to play soccer at Georgia.

Softball

Nani Cabrales, Archer: The senior was 24-4 with one save and a 1.23 ERA as a pitcher and hit .405 with five home runs and 31 RBIs in leading the Tigers to the first team state championship in the school's four-year history. Cabrales had 184 strikeouts in 183 innings pitched as a senior and finished her career holding 15 school records. She has signed to play at Georgia Tech.

Swimming (boys)

Jimmy Yoder, Lassiter: The senior set the state record in the 100-yard butterfly (48.55) and won the 200-yard freestyle (1:37.49) at the Class AAAAAA meet. Yoder also was a member of Lassiter's state-winning 200 and 400 freestyle-relay teams. A U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier last year while still 16 years old, Yoder has signed to swim at Stanford.

Swimming (girls)

Nicole Stafford, Westminster: The senior won the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly in leading Westminster to the Class AAAAA-A championship. Stafford's winning time of 1:45.29 in the 200 free is a state record. Stafford is the 15th swimmer in state history to win state titles in the same event (200 free) in all four years of high school. A qualifier to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in four events, Stafford has signed to swim at Stanford.

Tennis (boys)

Zachary Kennedy, Westlake: Kennedy won all 14 of his matches as a senior as he led Westlake to the Class AAAAAA semifinals. Kennedy was 54-1 in his high school career, and Westlake made the semifinals or better in each of his last three seasons. Kennedy is ranked No. 51 nationally among high school junior boys by TennisRecruiting.net. He has signed to play at Clemson.

Tennis (girls)

Kourtney Keegan, Blessed Trinity: The senior never lost a set in her high school career while winning 76 matches and leading Blessed Trinity to state titles in each of her four seasons. She is one of 33 girls to be named National High School Tennis All-American by the NHSTAA Foundation. Rated the No. 10 prospect in the country by TennisRecruiting.net, Keegan has signed to play tennis at Florida.

Track and field (boys)

Allan Frye, Campbell: The senior hurdler defended his state title in the 300-meter hurdles at last month's Georgia Olympics in a time of 38.74 seconds and won the 110-meter championship in 14.46. Frey has the top time in the state this season in both events (13.81 in the 110-meter hurdles, 36.54 in the 300-meter hurdles). He has signed to compete for Norfolk State.

Track and field (girls)

Kendell Williams, Kell: The senior never lost a competition in her four-year career and won individual state titles in the long jump (two), 100-meter hurdles (four), 300-meter hurdles (two) and high jump (three). She won the 100-meter hurdles, long jump and high jump at this year's state meet and compiled a meet-best 31 points. Williams will join her brother, Devon, on the track team at Georgia.

Volleyball

Teegan Van Gunst, Whitewater: The 6-foot senior outside hitter had 504 kills, 406 digs, 72 blocks, 66 service aces, 33 assists and a .413 hitting percentage in leading the Wildcats (53-3) to the Class AAAAA title. She had 19 kills, three blocks and three aces in the state final against McIntosh. Van Gunst, a second-team Under Armour All-American, has signed to play volleyball at Georgia Tech.

Wrestling

Tyler Askey, Northgate: The senior in the 170-pound class won his fourth state championship in four years and finished his career with a 194-0 record. He is believed to be the only wrestler in state history to win four titles while undefeated. Askey is ranked No. 4 nationally and No. 1 in the South among high school wrestlers by Win-Magazine.com. He has signed to wrestle at Virginia.
