Top performances of Week 10: Cobb leads Washington-Wilkes past rival Lincoln

Dalen Cobb was ranked No. 3 on GHSF Daily’s Class A Public player of the year candidates last week. He can only move up after his performance last week against archrival Lincoln County.

The senior quarterback and reigning Class A Public 100 meters champion passed for 198 yards, rushed for 168 yards, had a hand in six touchdowns and scored three conversions in the Tigers’ 44-36 victory.

Washington-Wilkes (7-1) can clinch its first region title since 2013 with a victory this week against Commerce.

*Monroe Area QB Selation Straughter was 10-of-12 passing for 125 yards and rushed for 101 yards on 19 carries in a 17-14 victory over Oconee County.

*Trion RB Rob Brown rushed for 290 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries, caught two passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns, had two tackles and intercepted a pass – all before weather conditions canceled the second half - in a 48-7 victory over Armuchee.

*Westside of Augusta RB Xzavier Green rushed for 256 yards and two touchdowns on 43 carries in a 28-6 victory over Laney.

*Washington-Wilkes QB Dalen Cobb was 11-of-13 passing for 198 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries and scored three two-point conversions in a 44-36 victory over Lincoln County.

*Allatoona DE Ty Thompson had three tackles for losses and three sacks in a 23-12 victory over Kell.

*Apalachee DE Tyler Ferro had three tackles for losses, eight first hits and seven assists and blocked a punt in a 35-7 victory over Walnut Grove.

*Baldwin RB Micah Welch rushed for 239 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 27-14 victory over Spalding.

*Bleckley County RB Jahvon Butler rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-23 victory over Washington County.

*Bowdon QB Robert McNeal was 10-of-13 passing for 231 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 65 yards in a 40-14 victory over Mount Zion of Carroll County.

*Bremen RB Blake Matthews rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns, passed for a touchdown and had 15 tackles in a 28-26 victory over Temple.

*Brookwood RB Alexander Diggs rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns and caught seven passes for 99 yards in a 35-14 victory over Grayson.

*Carver of Atlanta QB Bryce Bowens was 16-of-24 passing for 390 yards and four touchdowns in a 36-29 victory over Sandy Creek.

*Cass DB Andrew Nguyen had 12 tackles and an interception in a 35-14 loss to Calhoun.

*Cedar Grove DL Christen Miller had three tackles for 18 yards in losses in a 42-10 victory over Westminster.

*Chamblee DB Connor Pressnall intercepted three passes and returned one for a touchdown in a 42-14 victory over Jackson of Atlanta. Pressnall also had four solo tackles.

*Cherokee Bluff DB Jahce Justice was targeted on four passes, intercepted three of them and broke up the other in a 21-14 victory over Dawson County.

*Christian Heritage RB/LB Solomon Locke rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown, caught four passes for 74 yards and a touchdown, recorded 11 tackles and forced a fumble in a 20-17 loss to Mount Paran Christian.

*Coffee RB Brady Skipper rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries and returned an interception 31 yards to the 3-yard line to set up a score in a 33-13 victory over Veterans.

*Creekside WR Derrick White had five receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown in a 56-7 victory over Mundy’s Mill.

*Crisp County QB Jack Carter was 9-of-10 passing for 214 yards and four touchdowns in a 59-12 victory over Sumter County.

*Dade County QB Brody Cooper was 19-of-21 passing for 260 yards and four touchdowns and scored a touchdown in a 35-6 victory over Coosa.

*Dalton WR Karim Page had 11 receptions for 208 yards in a 55-42 loss to Douglas County.

*Darlington RB Caleb Thompson rushed for 214 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries in a 35-23 victory over North Cobb Christian.

*Douglas County RB Latrell Murrell rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns and Jirah Douglas ran for 144 yards and three scores in a 55-42 victory over Dalton.

*Fayette County RB Javon Graham rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries in a 66-6 victory over Mount Zion of Jonesboro.

*Fellowship Christian RB Nick Persiano rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-28 victory over Mount Pisgah Christian.

*Gilmer FS/RB Will Kiker rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, had 12 tackles, one to save a touchdown, and played more than 90 snaps in a 26-21 victory over West Hall.

*Greenbrier QB Brooks Pangle was 22-of-26 passing for 439 yards and six touchdowns in a 56-0 victory over Johnson of Gainesville.

*Grovetown RB Joseph Jean rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries in a 42-0 victory over Rockdale County.

*Haralson County QB/LB Clay Hyatt rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns, completed four passes for 61 yards, had 18 tackles, four for losses, and forced and recovered a fumble in a 21-0 victory over Heard County.

*Jasper County WR Ardarius Benton had four receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown in a 44-14 loss to Lamar County.

*Johns Creek LB Sam Oppenheimer had 15 tackles (eight solo) and three tackles for losses, forced and recovered a fumble and blocked a field-goal attempt in a 37-27 victory over Centennial.

*LaGrange RB A.J. Tucker scored four touchdowns and rushed for 118 yards on 11 carries In a 55-26 victory over Spencer.

*Lanier County DB Jaylon Calhoun had four sacks and four other tackles for losses in a 42-0 victory over Atkinson County.

*Lincoln County QB/FS Trey Huff passed for 207 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns, scored two conversions and had eight tackles in a 44-36 loss to Washington-Wilkes.

*Lovett DB Chase Nalley had four tackles, broke up three passes and returned an interception 47 yards in 16-0 victory over Columbia.

*Macon County QB Marlon Mitchell rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in a 37-10 victory over Manchester.

*Marist QB Champ Davis accounted for 176 of Marist’s 423 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns in a 64-12 victory over Stephenson.

*Milton RB Jordan McDonald scored three touchdowns rushing and one receiving and threw a TD pass in a 44-34 victory over Roswell. McDonald had 157 yards from scrimmage on 13 touches.

*Mount de Sales RB Fernando Washington rushed for 247 yards and five touchdowns on 19 carries in a 33-7 victory over Strong Rock Christian.

*North Murray QB Seth Griffin was 15-of-28 passing for seven touchdowns and 352 yards in a 55-20 victory over Murray County.

*North Oconee WR/DB Khalil Barnes had eight receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown and made seven tackles in a 42-7 victory over Cedar Shoals.

*Paulding County WR David Okoi had nine receptions for 201 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-26 loss to South Paulding.

*Pierce County QB D.J. Bell rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in a 44-6 victory over Long County.

*Pinecrest Academy RB/LB Brock Barbee rushed for 100 yards, scored a touchdown, made 13 tackles and recovered a fumble in a 21-14 victory over North Georgia.

*Prince Avenue Christian WR Bailey Stockton had two receptions for 41 yards and two touchdowns, returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown and recorded a sack and a tackle for a loss in a 55-0 victory over Loganville Christian.

*Rabun County LB Will Turpin had five tackles for losses in a 45-7 victory over Elbert County.

*Richmond Hill WR/DB Ravon Grant had five receptions for 71 yards, five tackles and an interception in a 14-7 victory over Glynn Academy.

*Ringgold DB Kyle White had 10 solo tackles and six assists and forced a fumble in a 42-7 victory over Coahulla Creek.

*Riverwood QB Avery Smith was 13-of-22 passing for 309 yards and five touchdowns in a 37-27 victory over Cambridge.

*Rockmart QB J.D. Davis was 8-of-13 passing for 168 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in a 49-33 victory over Adairsville.

*Sandy Creek QB Geimere Latimer was 24-of-38 passing for 474 yards and rushed for 78 yards on 17 carries in a 36-29 loss to Carver of Atlanta.

*Savannah Christian LB Peyton Cromwell had seven solo tackles, four tackles for losses and 21 tackles overall in a 24-21 victory over Aquinas.

*Social Circle DB Mason Moore had 11 tackles and recovered two fumbles, returning one – an intercepted option pitch – 55 yards for a touchdown in a 28-19 victory over Commerce.

*South Atlanta RB Keyjuan Brown rushed for 217 yards and five touchdowns and scored two two-pointers in a 62-6 victory over McNair.

*South Forsyth: LB Cole Williams had 14 tackles and a sack, forced a fumble and broke up a pass in a 17-14 loss to Denmark.

*Southeast Bulloch LB Kyon Taylor had six solo tackles and two sacks and scored two safeties in a 32-0 victory over Beach.

*Wesleyan WR Jamie Tremble had three receptions for touchdowns covering 15, 30 and 51 yards in a 69-17 victory over Providence Christian.

*West Forsyth QB Keegan Stover was 22-of-32 passing for 238 yards and five touchdowns in a 40-7 victory over Gainesville.

*Westlake WR Cayden Lee had four receptions for 147 yards and three touchdowns in a 65-18 victory over North Atlanta.

*Whitefield Academy WR Ayden Duncanson had seven receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown and scored on a 55-yard run in a 42-12 victory over Landmark Christian.

*Woodward Academy RB Damari Alston rushed for 193 yards on 11 carries in a 48-0 victory over Forest Park.

*Worth County QB Chip Cooper passed for 214 yards and ran for 136 and three touchdowns in a 31-7 victory over Berrien.

Lines of distinction

*Athens Academy’s offensive line of Taylor Muir, Jay Wright, Sam Laughlin, Jackson Hutton, Johnerio Holt and Pratt Ferguson open holes for two backs well over 100 yards in a 30-14 victory over Athens Christian. Tre Hawkins ran for 167 yards. Sam Bush rushed for 144.

*Blessed Trinity’s offensive line of Christian Wesemeyer, Tucker Daniels, Jack Pirinelli, Skye Richardson and Nicholas Pearson helped the Titans run for 429 yards on just 29 carries in a 56-24 victory over Hiram. Justice Haynes rushed for 224 yards. Evan Dickens rushed for 132. Blessed Trinity had another 140 yards passing on 15 attempts.

*Calhoun’s offensive line of Kendrick Kirby, Christian Bell, Lance Mauldin, Jace Warren and Brody Balliew and tight ends Lex Walraven and Emaree Winston paved the way for 324 yards rushing on 36 attempts and 478 total yards in 35-14 victory over Cass. Caden Williams rushed for 206 yards.

*East Jackson’s offensive line of Jamal Neal, Chase Hill, Jacob Vaughn, Tyquese Gresham and Jacob Carries cleared the way for 328 rushing yards and helped the Eagles snap a 24-game losing streak in region play in a 26-0 victory over Franklin County.

*Etowah’s offensive line of Kamden McQuaid, Kenneth Trigueros, Dylan Nichols, Tate Nelms and Carter Kerr with tight end Grant Griffith lifted sophomore RB Elijah Washington to 202 yards rushing in a 17-14 victory over Woodstock. Etowah had 307 total yards with no sacks.

*Fannin County’s offensive line of left tackle Dylan Collins, left guard Rico Arellanes, center Taylor Collis, right guard Jeremy Tammen, right tackle Logan Long and H-backs Cade Sands and Issac Davis cleared the path to 367 yards rushing and six rushing touchdowns in a 42-7 victory over Chattooga in a game between teams unbeaten in region play. QB Seth Reece rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns.

*Johnson County’s offensive line of Brantley Martin, Frankie Curry, Josh Taylor, Mark Kolosa, Ashton Davis, William Taylor, C.J. Strickland, Aaron Adams and Terrance Poole helped the Trojans rush for 404 yards without a passing attempt in a 42-35 victory over Dublin. Jook Whitley rushed for 231 yards and four touchdowns. It was Johnson County’s first non-forfeited victory over Dublin in eight tries.

*Mary Persons’ offensive line of J’vyon Tatum, Austin Starr, Andon Riley, Jarvis Germany and Walker Turner created space for 214 yards rushing and 165 passing in a 32-24 victory over Upson-Lee.

*McIntosh County Academy’s offensive line of Peyton Waters, Keon Vereen, Daniel Rush, Triston Rayhon, Wayne McClenithan, Danny Thomas, and Curtez Carter paved the way for 348 yards rushing and four touchdowns in a 32-8 win over Screven County.

*South Cobb’s offensive line of Marcus Laurent, Jayden Oreus, Lunden Phillips, Denorris Watkins, Christian Kamau and Jeremy Fahie were out in front of more than 700 yards of offense in a 52-34 victory over Osborne. Javon Richardson passed for 333 yards and rushed for 116. Jonathan Simmons rushed for 247 yards and two TDs. Terrence Clark II had six receptions for 217 yards.

*Wilcox County’s offensive line of Isaiah Turner, Cole Blackwell, Will Fore, Boppy Hilliard, Kassidy Deans and Jordan Stephens led the way to 509 yards of total offense in a 53-26 victory over Hawkinsville. Wilcox had 332 rushing yards on 33 carries. Trey Coley ran for 188 yards.
