No. 1 Colquitt County, defending champion Norcross and recharged state power Valdosta helped shuffle the Class AAAAAA football rankings this week after impressive victories.
Colquitt defeated No. 3 Lowndes 45-27 in a Region 1-AAAAAA showdown. It was the most points allowed by Lowndes since 2000. Lowndes fell to No. 6.
Valdosta beat No. 3 Camden County 13-10 and moved up two spots to No. 3, the highest ranking for the 23-time state champion since 2005.
Norcross, which had been unranked since a 26-0 loss to Milton on Sept. 5, defeated North Gwinnett 17-10 in a rematch of the 2013 title game. The Blue Devils re-entered the rankings at No. 9.
North Gwinnett is out of the rankings for the first time since 2008.
Also out of the rankings this week are North Cobb in AAAAAA, Jones County in AAAAA, Adairsville in AAA and Model in AA. Jones County, which had stunned No. 1-ranked Northside-Warner Robins 45-37 on Sept. 19, was upset 35-16 by Lakeside-Evans, which entered the game 2-3.
Also newly ranked are Milton in AAAAAA, Lanier in AAAAA, Dodge County in AAA and Thomasville in AA. Dodge is 6-0 for the first time since 2005.
There are four games this week between ranked teams.
They are No. 7 Camden County at No. 6 Lowndes in AAAAAA, No. 9 Whitewater at No. 2 Sandy Creek in AAAA and No. 7 Savannah Christian at No. 4 Calvary Day and No. 9 Dooly County at No. 5 Hawkinsville in A.
