Hawks finish summer league with a 2-3 record

Five players scored in double figures Friday night as the Hawks finished the NBA Summer League with an 80-72 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in a consolation-round game in Las Vegas.

Matt Mooney led the Hawks with 17 points. Nick Ward scored 16, Sedrick Barefield added 12 and Jaylen Adams and Charlie Brown had 10 each.

Mooney was 6-for-12 from the field and 3-of-5 on 3-pointers.

Ward had 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.

The Hawks again struggled with their shooting, finishing at 34 percent from the field. Brown was 3-of-13, Adams was 4-for-12,and Tahjere McCall was 0-for-8.

The Hawks again played without De’Andre Hunter, the No. 4 overall pick in the NBA draft. He was held out due to a sore right knee.

The Hawks, who led 50-28 at halftime, finished the summer league with a 2-3 record.

The Hawks open the preseason on Oct. 7 by hosting the Pelicans.
