Gwinnett Braves pitcher Sean Newcomb tied his career-high of 11 strikeouts in Gwinnett’s 2-0 loss to the Pawtucket Red Sox on Sunday.

Newcomb previously reached 11 strikeouts with the Advanced-A Inland Empire on June 16, 2015.

Newcomb, a left-handed pitcher, threw scoreless seven innings with two walks and one hit. Pawtucket scored their only runs off a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

From Brockton, Mass., Newcomb pitched his best start of the season in front of a crowd of friends and family at Pawtucket’s McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, RI.

Even with the loss, Gwinnett won the season series with Pawtucket, 4-2.

Gwinnett only had two hits on Sunday by Ozzie Albies and Rio Ruiz.
