Bubba Watson made a few more putts on his way to a third-round 66 at the Tour Championship Saturday.
That may be an understatement.
Watson finished with six birdies – all threes on the scorecard. There were two bogeys to blemish the otherwise stellar round.
Watson finished the third round with 27 putts that totaled 111 feet, eight inches. By considerable contrast, he finished his first-round 72 with 33 putts totaling 37 feet, 8 inches and his second-round 73 with 31 putts totaling 61 feet, 10 inches.
“My ball striking has been right where I want it,” Watson said. “I’m hitting the driver nicely. The ball is cutting perfectly like I want. Around here, the ball goes further because of the way the grass is and as hot as it has been. It’s just making putts. If you go around my last few days, I didn’t make any putts. I made one putt over 10 feet, if that.”
Watson made four putts over 10 feet on Saturday, all resulting in birdies. His long was a 29 feet, eight inch putt for birdie on No. 8.
