Mr. Langer, it’s called the second cut here

Even the two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langer has trouble with the Augusta National lexicon from time to time.

On Monday, Langer was asked why he has had so much success at the Masters with wins in 1985 and 1993 and a second-to-last paring in 2016 at the age of 58.

“Well, one would be that I just love this golf course,” Langer said. “I always have. It’s a real challenge. It used to be wide-open fairways. That has changed dramatically since they brought, planted thousands of trees and got – what do you call it – the …”

An Augusta National member serving as the moderator for the interview interjected.

“Second cut,” he said.

And Langer continued.

“Sorry, I usually call it rough, but it’s the second cut,” he said. “And that changed the golf course quite a bit from off the tee.”

And remember Bernhard, those watching you this week are patrons and not fans.
