Georgia Tech wide receiver Marquez Ezzard has left the team, six games through the season. The departure, first reported by Rivals on Thursday, was confirmed by a team spokesman.

Ezzard transferred to Tech from Miami in 2019 after one season with the Hurricanes. He was part of coach Geoff Collins’ initial haul of transfers.

Ezzard, who was a four-star prospect from Stockbridge High in the 2018 recruiting cycle, played in eight games in 2020 and caught nine passes for 124 yards after sitting out the 2019 season as a transfer. He looked forward to the 2021 season with anticipation, but saw his playing time diminish behind receivers such as Malachi Carter, PeJé Harris, Adonicas Sanders and Kalani Norris. He appeared in one game, in the season opener, against Northern Illinois.

It was not clear whether Ezzard plans to continue playing. If he were to transfer to another school, he would have two more seasons of eligibility.
