As of late Sunday afternoon, Georgia Tech expected to play its Tuesday night home game against Georgia State after its opponent on Saturday, USC, went on a COVID-19 pause due to multiple cases within the program.

The Yellow Jackets and the No. 10 Trojans shared the Footprint Center court Saturday afternoon in Phoenix, a 67-53 loss for Tech. USC announced its pause early Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after its game against the Jackets. The Trojans were to play Tuesday against Oklahoma State in Oklahoma City. USC joined a growing list of teams in college basketball and across sports that have had to suspend activities due to COVID-19 cases. There were 23 Division I men’s teams with COVID issues of Sunday morning, according to college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein, a list that did not include USC.

It did include Syracuse, whom the Jackets are scheduled to play Dec. 29 in Syracuse, N.Y. On Friday, coach Jim Boeheim’s team postponed games for Saturday and Tuesday due to COVID protocols. The Orange’s next game after those two games is against Tech on the 29th.
