In March, Georgia Tech basketball coach Josh Pastner told his players that they could do “whatever they want to do” to his hair if they won the ACC championship. The Yellow Jackets did that, but Pastner’s curly hair remained safe from braids or any other stylings.
Seven months later, his players have not forgotten about the offer.
“We’ve got somebody that can do his hair, but I think he’s a little nervous to get it,” guard Michael Devoe said Tuesday at the ACC Tipoff media event. “We told him, ‘Coach, even if you don’t like it, you can take it out right after you get it done.’ But he definitely does owe us for that.”
Guard Jordan Usher said that Pastner has tried to get out of having his hair braided by getting his hair cut short. He added that Pastner tries to change the subject when the matter comes up.
“He’ll shut that down and start talking about the first game real quick,” Usher said.
Usher was hopeful that at least Pastner could wear a wig on Halloween.
Pastner did not sound like he was headed to a stylist anytime soon. He did note that he had kept his sideburns long.
“They still want to do things with the hair,” he said. “I said, ‘Let’s see how the year goes.’”
