After two seasons at Georgia, Chris Barnes announced he will transfer Wednesday in a post on Instagram.

Barnes had appeared in one game in his career, as a guard for the Bulldogs. He switched to the defensive line this spring.

Barnes is the third Bulldog to transfer in the past two weeks, following offensive lineman Pat Allen and outside linebacker Jaleel Laguins.

“Thank you, for your support, but after careful consideration and many conversations with my family and coaches I’ve made the decision to transfer from the University of Georgia,” Barnes wrote in part. “I’m grateful for the many lifetime memories I’ve created with my teammates, fans in the Athens community.”

Barnes, a former offensive lineman at Lee County High School in Leesburg, went on to write he did not know where he planned to attend next season, but was looking forward to the decision process.
