It took nearly a quarter and a half, but the nation’s No. 1 scoring offense was able to score its first touchdown of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl thanks to its defense.

No. 12 UCF scored the first touchdown in Monday’s game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against No. 7 Auburn after a long return from a fumble recovery set up a McKenzie Milton 18-yard touchdown run.

With Auburn crossing into UCF territory, Knights defensive lineman A.J. Wooten knocked the football out of the hands of Tigers quarterback Jarrett Stidham. The ball was picked up by defensive back Tre Neal, who got a nice block down the sideline and returned it 36 yards to the Auburn 21-yard line.

Two plays later, Milton escaped a crowded backfiled and pranced into the end zone to give the Knights a 10-3 lead with 8:51 left in the first half.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
