Tom Brady was back under center for the Patriots as the defending Super Bowl champions opened the 2015 preseason against the Green Bay Packers at Gillette Stadium.

Brady played two series, completing one pass to Brandon Gibson while three others fell incomplete. He took seven snaps before being pulled for Jimmy Garoppolo after two series.

Brady was greeted by thunderous applause by a half-full stadium when the Patriots starting offense was introduced before the game.

Despite missing the last two practices because of his role in the Deflategate settlement hearings, Brady stated earlier today his desire to play on his Facebook page, posting a photo of him walking on the field with a message stating, "It's good to be home. Helmet is on. I'll see you tonight Gillette Stadium."

The first drive Brady engineered started near the Patriots own goal line after the defense held the Packers on fourth and goal. He threw two incompletions as the Pats went three and out.

After another fourth down stop by the Patriots defense near midfield, Brady took over again, completing a pass to Gibson before the drive stalled. On third down, Brady tried to deliver a pass in traffic to Michael Hoomanawanui but it fell incomplete.

Brady was replaced by Garoppolo on the Patriots third drive.
