Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton kept his answers brief after his team's 24-10 Super Bowl loss to the Denver Broncos Sunday.

“We got outplayed,” he said, frowning and shaking his head, at times looking exhausted and thoroughly disappointed, during a post-game press conference.

“They just played better than us,” he said. “I don't know what you want me to say. They made more plays than us and that's what it comes down to. We had our opportunities. It wasn't nothing special that they did. We dropped balls, we turned the ball over, gave up sacks, threw errant passes. That's it. They scored more points than us.”

When asked to put into words his disappointment he simply said, “We lost.”

“I know you're disappointed not just for yourself but your teammates,” an interviewer said. “It's got to be tough.”

For a moment, Newton stayed silent.

“I'm done man,” he responded before abruptly leaving the interview.

Unsurprisingly, his sudden departure -- and sullen attitude in the face of loss -- earned him some blowback from reporters and other athletes.
