The Falcons, who are thin at quarterback with an injury to Matt Ryan, added D.J. Shockley to the practice squad on Tuesday.

To make room for Shockley, the Falcons released defensive tackle Jeremy Clark.

Shockley, the former Georgia standout, was released from the practice squad Oct. 21 to make room for running back Antone Smith.

Shockley, who played locally at North Clayton High, was a seventh-round draft choice by the Falcons in 2006. He served as the team's third quarterback in 2006 and 2008. He spent the 2007 season on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Ryan is set to miss Sunday's game against Philadelphia with a turf-toe injury.

The Falcons will play the game with two quarterbacks. Chris Redman will start, and he'll be backed up by John Parker Wilson, who beat out Shockley in training camp for the third-string quarterback spot.
