Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan completed his second interview with the San Francisco 49ers late Saturday night.

Shanahan, the leading candidate to replace Chip Kelly, held his first interview with the 49ers over the bye week during the wild-card round of the playoffs, per NFL rules.

Now, per league rules, Shanahan isn’t allowed to have contact with the 49ers until after the Super Bowl.

The Falcons, who can’t comment publicly per league tampering rules, have already made the announcement that Shanahan is leaving internally, according to a NFL media report.

The Falcons will have a “open search” in order to find his successor.

Under Shanahan, the Falcons led the league in scoring had quarterback Matt Ryan had a career-high 38 touchdowns passes and a career-low seven interceptions.

The Falcons are set to face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at NRG Stadium in Houston.
