FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons tight end Jacob Tamme had a 41-yard reception, the longest of his career, in the 24-20 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday.

Thought we’d check in with the former wide receiver who played in the SEC at Kentucky as he’s getting ready to face the Dallas Cowboys at 1 p.m. Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Here’s what he had to say.

Q: How did it feel to have a few plays to help turn that game around against the Giants?

A: It felt good to help us get going with that long one. Sometimes, you just need a spark. Kroy(Biermann) gave us a great spark on defense by getting us the ball back. Then offensively for us to hit a big play like that to start the drive was nice. Julio got about five defenders out of there for me. I'm thankful for him.

Q: How much of selling that route was attributed to your fake block at the beginning of the play?

A: It's an old play. Everybody has got it in their repertoire somewhere. You can break it out a few times a year. It just happened to be a good time for it there.

Q: What’s your approach to facing a tough Dallas defense?

A: The good thing about our offense is that we have a lot of different guys who can make plays. At the tight end position, we feel like we need to do our job to help the offense every week. We're focused on the run game and pass game both.

Q: How did the move you made at the end of the 41-yard play look on film?

A: Sometimes, there are shades of the old wide receiver left in me from back in the day. We work on being a runner with the football. We are always trying to protect it, but you are trying to get as much YAC as you can. It was nice to get into some open space.
