Game-by-game breakdown of the Falcons' regular-season 2016 schedule. The Falcons finished with an 11-5 record and captured the NFC South championship.

Game 1: Tampa Bay 31, Atlanta 24 -- Falcons opened the season with a seven-point loss at home to their NFC South rival Sept. 11.

Game 2: Atlanta 35, Oakland 28 (Sept. 18) -- Julio Jones celebrates with Tevin Coleman and other teammates following a touchdown in the Falcons' road victory.

Game 3: Atlanta 45, New Orleans 32 (Sept. 26) -- Falcons won their second straight, defeating the Saints in New Orleans on Monday Night Football.

Game 4: Atlanta 48, Carolina 33 (Oct. 2) -- Julio Jones had a career-high 300 receiving yards as the Falcons won their third straight.

Game 5: Atlanta 23, Denver 16 (Oct. 9) -- Vic Beasley had his best game as a Falcon with 3 1/2 sacks of Denver QB Paxton Lynch in the seven-point win.

Game 6: Seattle 26, Atlanta 24 (Oct. 16) -- Controversial play on the Falcons' final possession became the focus of Atlanta's two-point loss to the Seahawks in Seattle.

Game 7: San Diego 33, Atlanta 30 OT (Oct. 23) -- Matt Ryan walks off the field after the Falcons were stopped on fourth-and-one in overtime during Sunday's home loss to the Chargers.

Game 8: Atlanta 33, Green Bay 32 (Oct. 30): Sideline reacts as defense held off the Packers in the final seconds of the one-point victory.

Game 9: Atlanta 43, Tampa 28 (Nov. 3): Four days after the home win over the Packers, the Falcons went on the road and defeated the Buccaneers in an NFC South matchup. The Falcons improved to 6-3 with the victory.

Game 10: Philadelphia 24, Atlanta 15 (Nov. 13): In their final game before the bye, the Falcons lost a lead late in their 24-15 defeat in Philadelphia. The team is now off until Nov. 27.

Game 11: Atlanta 38, Arizona 19 (Nov. 27): Taylor Gabriel had a big day on the receiving end of passes from Matt Ryan as the Falcons improved to 7-4 with the home victory.

Game 12: Kansas City 29, Atlanta 28 (Dec. 4): Chiefs used big plays to send the Falcons to their third home loss of the season. The Falcons are now 7-5 heading into their next game against the Rams.

Game 13: Atlanta 42, L.A. Rams 14 (Dec. 9): Vic Beasley had three sacks and a touchdown, earning NFC defensive player of the week honors for his performance, as the Falcons improved to 8-5 with the big win on the road.

Game 14: Atlanta 41, San Francisco 13 (Dec. 18): Devonta Freeman had three touchdowns as the Falcons picked up their ninth win of the season with the blowout victory.

Game 15: Atlanta 33, Carolina 16 (Dec. 24): Falcons completed the season sweep of the Panthers with a win in Charlotte, and clinched the NFC South later that day as second-place Tampa lost in New Orleans.

Game 16: Atlanta 38, New Orleans 32 (Jan. 1): Devonta Freeman is off to the races on a 75-yard touchdown run early in the Falcons' win. It was the final regular-season game at the Georgia Dome.

NFC Divisional Round: Falcons vs. Seahawks (Jan. 14): Plenty of talk prior to Saturday's game will focus on Richard Sherman's non-interference call against Julio Jones in the team's regular-season matchup. Falcons have a chance to exact a measure of revenge -- and earn a spot in the NFC title game -- with a win over Seattle in their first home playoff game since 2012.
