The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department is considering charges against an Oakland Raiders football player accused of taunting a K-9 officer.
The incident occurred when the Raiders played the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday afternoon at Heinz Field, according to officials.
“He was in uniform and immediately began taunting the police dog for a significant period of time, causing the dog to react directly to the player,” said Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department Chief Kevin Kraus.
Sources told WPXI that a player lifted his shirt, pounded his chest and barked at the K-9 officer in the tunnel leading to the field. The sources said the player in question is Ray-Ray Armstrong.
Taunting a police dog is a third-degree felony in Pennsylvania.
“There are a lot of consequences that can occur, including people getting bit,” Kraus said.
Investigators said there was a witness and video of the incident. They said they've contacted the Raiders organization and the NFL.
