Falcons starters are likely to play just one series in the exhibition opener against the Dolphins on Friday but coach Mike Smith wouldn’t say if star wide receiver Julio Jones will make his return.

Jones had surgery last October to repair a broken bone in his right foot—his second surgery on the foot within three years—and has been limited in training camp practices. Jones said this week that he’s ready to play if Smith calls on him and wide receivers coach Terry Robiskie also said Jones appears good to go.

Smith said the focus will be on playing time for inexperienced players.

“We are going to do like we do every year and get these young guys as many snaps as we can get them,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said Thursday.
