Pro Football Focus rates Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown the best at his position in the NFL and the third-best player overall. Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is ranked second and No. 9, respectively. Brown and Jones were the two wide receivers voted to the Associated Press All-Pro team.
It’s natural for the two players to be compared, but Jones said he’s not among those who do it.
“I do not,” Jones said. “I have a lot of respect for him, though. Our games are very different. I’m a bigger guy. He’s a smaller, quicker guy, in and out (of his breaks). I’m a bigger guy, I’m going to be more physical and attack the ball.”
Jones is 6-3, 220 pounds compared with Brown at 5-10, 180. Their pedigrees are much different, too. The Falcons selected Jones out of the University of Alabama with the No. 6 pick in the 2011 draft, while Brown went in the sixth round of the 2010 draft out of Central Michigan.
Jones and Brown tied for the NFL lead with 136 receptions in 2015. Jones topped Brown for the league lead in receiving yards, with 1,871, after Brown led the league with 1,698 the season before.
Jones said he doesn’t watch any other top wide receivers to gain any insights.
“I do not,” he said. “I just work on my game. I’ve got to be the best I can possibly be. Like I said, I have respect for all of those guys. They are great receivers. (Texans wide receiver DeAndre) Hopkins, I met him at the Pro Bowl, great guy. I met a bunch of guys there. But to answer your question, I do not (watch any of them).”
