Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones missed his second day of practice with a hamstring injury, but is expected to play Sunday against the New York Giants at 1 p.m. Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Jones suffered the injury during the Falcons’ 26-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. Jones returned to the action after feeling some tightness in his leg.
“It’s definitely my job, but with me being able to go back out there, it was not that serious,” Jones said. “I didn’t go (Wednesday) because it just precautionary. They want to sit me out and rest me up. But I’ll be ready to go.”
Returner Devin Hester (turf toe), defensive end Malliciah Goodman (triceps), linebacker Brooks Reed (groin surgery) and safety William Moore (sick) did not practice Thursday.
“A number of the guys participated in the walk-through,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “Hopefully, I’m back to full tomorrow.”
Jones is not a question for the game.
“No, zero,” Quinn said, when asked if there were any doubts about Jones being available to to play against the Giants.
Jones had nine catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns against the Eagles and was named the NFC’s offensive player of the week.
“He was feeling a little tightness in his hamstring or whatever,” White said. “He came to the sidelines, but he knew he had to play a lot more plays. But then he would only come in for (certain) situations.”
White expecting Jones to play against the Giants, also.
“We’re used to him fighting through stuff,” White said. “He came out there and gave us a lot of reps. Caught some more passes and set up a scoring drive for us.”
