Five reasons Nick Saban may be overrated

Some people - well a lot of people - think that Alabama's Nick Saban is the best coach in college football, and one of the greatest all-time. Yes, Saban has won three national championships, but here are five reasons why he may be a bit overrated.

Who blows a 24-0 lead in the second quarter against Auburn? This happened in 2010, and was perhaps the darkest moment of the Saban era. Auburn, led by Cam Newton, famously took advantage of Alabama's lack of halftime adjustments and went on to win the national championship behind Gene Chizik.

Guess who lost to Louisiana-Monroe? It seems like a distant memory, right? But it really happened during Nick Saban's first season at Alabama's coach in 2007. Louisiana-Monroe? Yes.

After a dramatic win over LSU, the Tide lost at home to Texas A&M. The governor of Alabama called out Saban and the Tide on talk radio for awful play-calling on the team's final offensive series of the game.

Forget two national championships at Alabama. Saban could've won three had he engineered a better game plan against Florida in the 2008 SEC Championship. It was Alabama’s first loss and help perpetuate the myth of Tim Tebow. Saban failed to rally the troops after the heartbreaker as Alabama was blown out by Utah in Sugar Bowl.

If you're one of the greatest all-time football coaches, wouldn't you at least have a winning record in the NFL? Saban posted a 15-17 record in two seasons as coach of the Miami Dolphins, and flat-out denied he was going to be Alabama's next coach – which, of course, happened.
