After one practice with the Falcons, former New Orleans Saints wide receiver and Falcons nemesis Lance Moore decided to retire on Monday.

Moore tried out for the San Diego Chargers last week, but they elected to sign former Green Bay Packer James Jones.

Moore played for the Detroit Lions last season and caught 29 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns.

However, most Falcons fans know him from his days with the New Orleans Saints from 2006 to 2013. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014.

Moore, 5-foot-9 and 177 pounds, caught a career-high 79 passes for 928 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2008 season. In 2012, he had 1,041 yards receiving for the Saints.

Moore, who played at Toledo and was undrafted, has played 129 NFL games and has made 40 starts. The crafty route runner has amassed 389 catches for 4,816 yards and 44 touchdowns.

Moore played 14 games against the Falcons while with the Saints and helped them to an 11-3 mark in those games.

Moore’s two biggest games against the Falcons came in losses.

In 2010, he caught six passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns, including an 80-yarder, but the Falcons won 27-24 in overtime on Sept. 26.

In 2012, Moore had seven catches for 123 yards in a 23-13 Falcons’ victory on Nov. 29, 2012.
