Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud, who is in the league’s concussion protocol program, was declared out of the game against the Washington Redskins at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

Falcons coach Mike Smith will release the team’s official injury report this afternoon. He made the announcement during his weekly radio segment on the team’s flagship radio station, 790TheZone.

Rookie Zeke Motta will start for DeCoud, who went to the Pro Bowl last season as an alternate, and rookie Kemal Ishmael will be active and play on special teams.
