HBO’s “Hard Knocks” on Tuesday recorded Falcons linebacker Kroy Biermann telling outside linebacker Mark Collins he’s still “apprehensive” about his surgically-repaired Achilles tendon.

Coach Mike Smith noted that Biermann was talking to Collins the day after he’d played 12 snaps during the exhibition opener against the Dolphins on Aug. 8. That was Biermann’s first game action since suffering his season-ending injury last Sept. 15.

Biermann played 36 snaps at Houston on Saturday and is scheduled to play the entire first half against Tennessee on Saturday along with the rest of the Falcons starters.

“I know that Kroy worked his tail off to get back, did a great job in his rehab,” Smith said today. “I expect with this work that he had in Houston and the work he’s going to get this weekend, by the time we are at New Orleans I don’t think there will be any apprehension. He knows what we have to do and we have to be ready for that first game.”

The Falcons are counting on Biermann to be one of their primary pass rushers from his hybrid defensive end/linebacker position.
