Falcons linebacker Vic Beasley not only will play in Thursday’s exhibition gamer against the Dolphins, the plan is for him to get extensive playing time so he’ll have more opportunities to rush the quarterback as a defensive end.

Beasley will be back in the lineup after he was missed last week’s exhibition game with a shoulder injury. He played just two snaps in the base defense in the exhibition opener.

“He had a good comeback from his setback last week,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “We are excited to see him, especially in nickel (defense). We are anticipating a good deal of throwing in this game.”

Quinn said first-year Dolphins coach Adam Gase featured pass-heavy attacks while serving as offensive coordinator for the Broncos and Bears.

Beasley was a late scratch against the Browns on Thursday. The Falcons said the injury is unrelated to the torn labrum that Beasley played with last season, an injury Beasley said he initially suffered while playing for Clemson.

The Falcons moved Beasley from end to outside linebacker in the base defense this season with the idea that he could face more favorable matchups. Beasley had four sacks as a rookie in 2015 after the Falcons selected him with the No. 8 overall pick in the draft.
