Durant declared out for Washington game

FLOWERY BRANCH — Falcons linebacker Justin Durant, who has an elbow injury, was declared out for Sunday's against Washington by coach Dan Quinn on Friday.

Durant leads the team in tackles with 27. Joplo Bartu, a former starter, is listed behind Durant on the team’s depth chart, but Nate Stupar has also receive playing time.

Durant was a second-round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2007. He signed a three-year, $10.8 million contract with the Falcons after playing for Dallas last season.

He’s battled injuries over his career and replaced Sean Weatherspoon, who signed with Arizona in free agency, at weakside linebacker. Durant has also played for the Lions and the Cowboys.
