Parcells a proven winner

Bill Parcells' first head coaching job was with the New York Giants. He went 3-12 his first season, but three years later the Giants were 14-2 and the Super Bowl champs.

Parcells twice led the New York Giants to Super Bowl titles; in 1986 and 1990. During his eight years with the Giants, Parcells had just two losing seasons.

As head coach of the New England Patriots from 1993-1996, Parcells' record was 32-32 with one AFC Championship.

Parcells, who has long been nicknamed "The Big Tuna", has for many years maintained a prickly relationship with the media.

After leading the New England Patriots to the AFC Championship in 1996, Parcells left his post there to become head coach of the New York Jets. In three seasons with the Jets, his record was 29-19.

After a three-year retirement phase following his stint with the Jets, Parcells returned to coaching as leader of the Dallas Cowboys. In Dallas from 2003-2006, Parcells went 34-30.

After the 1996 season with the (9-7) Cowboys, Parcells re-retired from coaching and joined ESPN as a studio analyst.
