Former Falcons kicker Morten Andersen, who set to be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 5 in Canton, Ohio, still follows the team very closely.

A native of Copenhagen, Denmark, Andersen also was credited with helping to grow the game in his country.

He’s aware that the Falcons signed massive offensive tackle Andreas Knappe, who’s from Silkeborg, Denmark and played at Connecticut, after he went undrafted.

“I’m hoping that he makes it,” Andersen said. “I’m excited. I talked to him a couple of times. He’s a big boy.”

Yes, indeed.

The Falcons list Knappe at 6-foot-8 and 325 pounds.

The Falcons don’t have any established depth at tackle behind starters Jake Matthews and Ryan Schraeder. They elected not to re-sign veteran swing tackle Tom Compton.

The others competing for the backup tackle spot include Kevin Graf, Will Freeman and Daniel Brunskill.
